What the heck is Hidden City?
Hidden City is a collective run by event organizers and performers who have been working in the DIY space in NYC for over ten years. As we've watched our city become more expensive and hostile to artists, we were inspired to grow Hidden City to help revive a scene that is sustainable, inclusive, and artist-friendly.
We're building a directory of DIY venues, we have an email list highlighting upcoming DIY shows and calls for collaboration, and we host community events at local underground spaces.
We're looking for more people interested in building the team. Reach out.

Hidden City Manifesto
A DIY mentality is inherently activist and anti-establishment. When artists create their own ecosystem, we are controlling the means of production and directing the flow of money away from the tech oligarchy.
We can replace our reliance on corporations with in-person communal gathering. By supporting our local community, we can create a movement that is sustainable and artist-friendly.
We don't need to rely entirely on social media and data to succeed as artists. By supporting local shows, collaborating with one another, and hosting our own events, we can build community and grow an organic following.
Corporations benefit when we view ourselves as hyper-independent one-man organizations. We are more powerful when we work collectively.
